Check the modem status lights

If you're still having connection problems, look at the lights on the front of your modem. For a working internet connection, the following lights should all be green: the power, internet, WAN, and WiFi lights. If one of those lights is not green, see below.

3510XZ modem lights

Status lights on a C3510XZ modem. All of our black tower modems will have similar lights, though yours may look slightly different from the example.

Power light color Description
Off Modem is unplugged or isn't getting power
Red Hardware test in progress. If it's still red after a few minutes, there could be hardware or sofware failure. Get help from an agent.
Orange or blinking green/orange Software test in progress

Internet light color Description
Off Modem in 'transparent bridge' mode. If it stays off once power light is green, try doing a modem reset.
Blinking red/green Auto-configuration in progress. If this continues for over a minute, get help from an agent.
Red Modem isn't able to connect to the Quantum Fiber network. A modem setting may be configured incorrectly—you'll need help from a technician to fix this.

WAN light color Description
Off Modem isn't connecting to the fiber network terminal.
Red Connection error. You'll need help from a technician to fix this.

WiFi light color Description
Off WiFi has been disabled in the modem settings. See 2a below.
Orange  WiFi is temporarily turned off based on a wireless schedule created in the modem settings. See 2b below.

To adjust the WiFi settings on your modem:

  1. Open a web browser on a device that is connected to your modem, and go to the modem settings portal, or GUI at http://192.168.0.1. Sign in using the admin username and password on your modem label.

  2. Select the Wireless Setup menu.

    1. To enable the WiFi network, select Basic Settings in the left sidebar. Next to 'Wireless Radio,' choose Enable.
    2. To change the WiFi schedule, select Wireless Schedule in the left sidebar. Select or update the days and times you want to enable or disable the entire WiFi network.
       
  3. Select Apply to save your settings.
