Polish that presentation outdoors at Peavey Plaza or kick back with your laptop in the Mall of America on a snowy day. Wherever you find yourself, there’s likely a free WiFi provider in your area of Minneapolis.

Of course, you won’t enjoy the ultra-fast Quantum Fiber Internet® connection you can get at home, but sometimes we all need a change of scenery. From coffee shops to art museums, use this helpful Minneapolis WiFi map to find the best places to connect across the city.

You can connect in any public area in the airport for no charge after accepting the terms of the MSP Airport WiFi network. There’s no password required, and sessions last for four hours. If you’re delayed longer than that (we’re sorry!) you can simply start a new session for no charge.

Libraries

Hennepin County’s largest library, the Minneapolis Central Library, is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday–Thursday and closes at 5 p.m. on weekends (on Sunday it opens at noon). Log in to the HCL_Public network and accept the terms—no password required. WiFi and printing (10 cents a page for black-and-white) are available at all Hennepin County library locations.

Parks and Community Spaces

On pleasant days, take advantage of the free WiFi at The Commons, Loring Park, Lake Harriet Park, and the two-acre Peavey Plaza in the heart of downtown. If you need to work indoors, connect at the North Commons Recreation Center or the Minneapolis Convention Center.

Museums and attractions

There’s free WiFi throughout the Minneapolis Institute of Art, plus a garden and café. You can also connect at the Walker Art Center and its neighboring outdoor Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. There’s also free WiFi at the Mill City Museum, including in their café, Bushel & Peck.

You can also connect while cheering on the Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium, the Timberwolves at Target Center, or the Twins at Target Field. In fact, U.S. Bank Stadium made history as one of the first major stadiums to blanket its interior with WiFi hotspots, including over 1,300 access points hidden within handrails.

Malls and coffee shops

The Mall of America remains the largest mall in the U.S. and its 600 WiFi access points mean that you can connect from the food court or a comfy massage chair.

With seven locations across the Twin Cities, Spyhouse Coffee Roasters offers thoughtfully curated roasts and free WiFi. In Uptown Minneapolis, Uncommon Grounds is known for their chai, cozy interior, and free hotspot access. Minnesota-born Caribou Coffee also has locations—and free WiFi—all over the city, offering a worthy and convenient local option.
